The Moorwitch by Jessica Khoury
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I have read A LOT of books about magic, but never one like this!
Rose is a Weaver – she spins her magic instead of relying on spells and/or wand work. As a child, she makes a deal with Lachlan…Several years later, he returns for her payment on the deal, just at the time when her magic is waning.
Leaving the streets of London for the moors of Scotland, Rose is tasked with finding the entrance to the world of the Fae. Rose happens to run into Conrad, the local laird, and gatekeeper for the Queen of the Fae, earning a spot in his household as governess to his younger sister.
However, as the day of her birthday nears, and the threat of the complete loss of her magic, she finds herself torn between helping Lachlan and telling Conrad the truth, saving him and his family.
