Second Chance Serenity by Jessica Ashley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Michael and Reyna have a past. High school sweethearts, he just up and leaves her to join the army, breaking her heart…and her trust. He’s been back in town for 5 years, but she still won’t even look at him.
Yup – you guessed it. Back in Hope Springs, Maine. This time, the focus is on Michael. When he comes across a man in black trying to kidnap Reyna in the parking lot of the high school, he comes to her rescue…not that she’s pleased about it. Her brother and parents convince her to get protection from Knight Security, and, as things go with these guys…Reyna and her bodyguards are pulled into multiple hairy situations.
This story is lighter than the last, with Michael not going through the heavy PTSD moments. Instead, he’s fighting his own demons and struggling to tell Reyna the truth about why he left all those years before.
