Getting More Done

Getting More Done

Got more stuff done this past week. We decided we didn’t like the way we rearranged the living room, so it went back to its original set-up. The blanket chest in the corner was moved to Little Man’s room, and now we have space for the Pack N Play.

Our painting adventures have also continued. The kitchen was mostly finished…All of the green is on the walls. The moulding and wainscoting still need to be done in white, but that can wait a bit. We are also narrowing down the tin backsplash we want; there are SO MANY CHOICES!!! It’s a bit staggering, when you see all the tin options. It’s just like picking paint colours. Whatever happened to just getting a light green or blue? Now the colours are so close to each other, it’s difficult to actually tell the difference between them all. The living room has two walls that have been painted a light blue-grey. It was supposed to be a darker colour, but when we went to order another gallon to ensure we had enough to continue through to the hallway, the local Sherwin Williams was all out. So, that darker blue will most likely end up in the spare room/office. The other two walls and hallway will be done by the end of the week. Moulding I think we’ll do all at once across the house. But, that may change.

I did some meal-prep last week, too. I cooked and shredded 3.5 pounds of chicken breasts. And I cooked 5.5 pounds of ground beef and transformed it into 9 pounds of Sloppy Joes. Mmmm…The kitchen smelled so good the day of the Sloppy Joes. I learned a trick to shredding so much chicken. Instead of using two forks like I’ve always done for shredded chicken, pork, beef, etc. But did you know you can use your mixer? Yup! Throw on the paddle attachment, toss the meat in the bowl, and put it on low for 15-30 seconds. What a great way to save your back! I did use two forks to break up some larger chunks. The Sloppy Joes I froze in 1 lb bags, the chicken is in 0.5 lb bags. Another great tip: If you have one of the super cool, super old skool turkey roasters, it is PERFECT for cooking up large amounts of meat. I wish I had thought about it before I did my taco meat recently.

On the baby front, all of the Newborn and 0-3 month clothes have been washed and put away. I picked up a small 3-drawer thing-a-ma-jigger at Walmart the other day to store them. I have A LOT of 0-3 month clothes, and I think I may end up trying to sell about half of them. I don’t need all of them. I’ve already posted a handful of items up in some of my networks (towels, baby robe, 0-6 month sleepers), and if I don’t get traction by next week, they will be posted on my local Craigslist page. I do have an Amazon wishlist of things to get – a new Organic Animal Baby (Little Man has Frenchy the Fox; we’re trying to decide between the other animals to pick one for Bug) and a bunch of cloth diapering tools.

Yup, Bug will be in cloth diapers. My aunt had texted me a few months ago, asking if I would be interested in the kit she bought for my cousin who never used them. I eagerly replied “YES!!! I’ll take them!” Then, when she came to visit in June, I realized it is the old skool cloth diapers, not the new modern ones. Bug will be in white cloth folded rectangles. I did pick up a pack of newborn diapers from Aldi last week. I figure it will be easier the first few weeks as I’m recovering from the C-Section to go the disposable route.

I’m 34 weeks today, so in about 5 weeks, Bug will be evicted. We’re so excited to meet the newest addition to our family! I’ve been in the “I’m uncomfortably pregnant” stage for a few weeks now. The latest update is that my lower back has just been constantly sore and achy the past week or so, I cannot find a comfortable way to sleep, and heartburn is now a regular thing as I’m getting ready for bed.

I met with the OB this morning, and she just told me to be sure to wear gym shoes as I’m walking around, and to take some Tylenol to help with the pain. Yeah…Not a fan of either of those suggestions, so I’m going to do some more internet sleuthing to see what I can do to help with the achiness. I just keep telling myself that I only have a few weeks left, and it will all be worth it once I get to hold Bug in my arms.
