What’s the Point?

What’s the Point?

Honestly…it took me a while to sit down and decide what to write about this week. Yes, I was inspired by my Sunday morning cuppa tea mug. But, being inspired by something doesn’t mean that the words always come easily. And I guess…that’s the point.

I took a big look at my life this week, and really did a deep DIVE into what is important. And last week…what was important was Little Man. He’s been in a funk the past few weeks, so this week, I made sure to keep him busy, getting outside for several hours a day, going to different parks, and even Cabela’s, and just ensuring our time together was quality. He even pooped in the toilet 3 times (YAY!!!!), and got to pee standing up at the toilet at my cousin’s house (Mummy didn’t bring his toilet sea). He didn’t nap at all, but he fell asleep cuddled up on me almost every single night in the 30 year old green LaZBoy rocker. We spent hours just running around, drawing with chalk, and just being outside in nature. It truly is calming.

We did head up to the lake for the weekend. Even more fun up here…we went on the Rhino to and from the dump, visited Nanny’s Food Trailer for lunch, we saw some gorgeous horses at dusk (I may have shouted “Unicorns” when I saw the white horses through the bushes and trees) and the bubbles…So. Many. Bubbles. And really, that’s what the point of life for me is right now. No, not the bubbles. The point is to be with Little Man, focused on him, spending time with him. And it got me thinking…

Nowadays, everyone seems to have a point to be made. It is all about making themselves feel big and important, and ensuring that they are doing the “RIGHT” thing. And if you are doing the “WRONG” thing, then they have a bone to pick with you; a point has to be made. And honestly, I don’t give a flying frick about what your point, or anyone else’s point, is.

I gave up on watching the news several years ago. I only get my news from the internet, and even then, I go to multiple sources. I don’t trust any one specific news outlet to tell it to me straight. Let me give you a tip: when you get your news from multiple sources (CNN, MSNBC, FOX, NPR, BBC, RTE, etc.), you start to learn what all the different slants are, but there is one SUPER AMAZING thing…You can actually figure out what the REAL story is. Shocking, I know. But it’s the truth. When you read news that is slanted in so many different ways, you start to see the commonalities, and THEY are the truth behind what is being reported. I also read journals, peer reviewed studies, so that I can be educated as well as I possibly can be, and I use that knowledge to make effective decisions for me and my family. Craziness, I know.

But I tell you, as I sat on that rocker on the porch, drinking my tea and watching Little Man play with his bubbles and his trucks on the driveway this morning, I looked at that mug and thought “What is your point?” and I realized…I don’t care what anyone’s point is. There is nothing you can say that will sway me to one side or the other. I am a pirate. I am an island. I have no need of someone arguing with me trying to make their point. And there is nothing you can do about it.

I didn’t get pictures, but I made bakes mostacolli for dinner Sunday night. No, I didn’t make my own sauce. I did have ground Italian Sausage that I cooked up and then added to the can of Hunt’s I picked up at the store. I also made homemade garlic & cheesy garlic bread from a baguette loaf. It’s super easy to do. Melt 2 Tablespoons of butter, mix in garlic powder and Italian Seasonings, and then just baste one half of the loaf with that. I topped that half with an Italian cheese mix and fresh Parmesan. Then I made another garlic butter mixture for the other half of the loaf. Tossed into a 350 oven for 12 minutes, and DELICIOUS.

The garden is going well. The AeroGarden is so dang full…I just can’t eat a salad every day. I brought half of my little baby plants to the lake this weekend. Monday I’ll be putting the TPosts in the ground where the garden will be, and once I’ve some kind of fencing up (snow fence? I think that will work), the plants will be ready to go in the ground. The other half I will be bringing up her next week, but they will NOT be going in the ground. I will be container gardening with them…Just not sure how I want to go about it yet.
