The Thing

So, apparently there was some “thing” that happened in D.C. this week. The results of this “thing” pissed off a lot of people, too. Now, I did not pay any attention to the “thing,” I did not watch the news for coverage of the “thing,” and I could really care less that the “thing” happened. I was told that I was being ignorant to a major issue with the county, and that I was setting a bad example for Little Man.

Let’s think about this…Something happened in D.C. that does not directly affect me, has nothing to do with me, and I’m supposed to be either elated or outraged? And the fact that I chose to just ignore it means that I am not a proper parent? I’m sorry, but there is no reason for me to be glued to my television to see what is happening. And it is not something I want my child to do, so why would I do it?

While a great many people were focused on the “thing,” I was watching the weather, planning what to do in case this super cold freeze were to result in a power outage, making sure The Falcon starts (not that I want to drive it when the heat doesn’t really work), and doing a quick inventory on my food supplies. Each morning, when we would come downstairs, I would take Little Man over to our garden area to see how everything is doing. Let me tell you, I should have done a before and after. We drove up to the lake with Nanny & Papa Thursday morning, coming back Sunday afternoon. I had cut down the salad greens Wednesday evening to make myself a big salad for dinner. Looking at it now you would never know I did so.

The herbs are all looking awesome, except for the lemon balms; they just have not germinated, and I’m a bit disappointed. My dill plants really drooped over; I’ve been told that is due to them being too wet, or that they are too dry. Well, I did water them when I filled up the AeroGarden, so I’m going to let them dry out a bit and see if that makes a difference. I will do a video at some point this week to show you guys how they are all looking. I do still need to pick up potting soil so I can transplant them into the bigger container, and do the same with my aloe plant. I’m going to see if I can get more of those peat starting pods at Home Depot as well. I bought a big pot, so I can add some more herbs once I get them started.

I was hoping to have some good news for you guys on the home search front. Squatch went to look at several homes these past two weeks, and Wednesday, we found one we loved. I even wrote a letter to the seller, hoping it would sway them in our direction. The home was listed Tuesday morning, and by 9am Wednesday, when Squatch was able to get in and view it, they already had 2 offers, sight unseen. Unfortunately, the seller went with a different offer, so we are back to square one.

There was another house Squatch looked at that has been on the market for a bit, but there is just something about it keeping me from pulling the trigger and making an offer. The housing market in NW WI is nuts. There were a few homes that were listed and had accepted offers either by the end of the day or the next. It’s just nuts. But we are not giving up. We will find a place. I realized this weekend that it has almost been 6 months since I packed up and left with Little Man. We have seen Squatch 4 times since we came down here. My Little Man needs his Daddy, and I need My Man. And Squatch needs the two of us. So, please send us good house vibes this next week. I’m hoping something new is listed that is within our parameters that isn’t actually a shit show inside (OMG, what these renters do to these homes is just DISGUSTING).
