It’s been two weeks since my last post – Sorry about that. I had a week where I was going from migraine to sinus pain all week, and it was just miserable. I was able to get Little Man to Cabela’s to see Santa on a sinus pain day. Kiddo still does not like Santa, but he enjoyed seeing all the animals and guns.
I’ve also joined Rae and Cecily over at The 80s Mom Podcast to form the Holy Trinity of Moms. We have discussed third and fourth wave feminism, and this week’s episode will cover the mystical world of toddler speak. I’m having fun with this, and look forward to working with the two of them in the future to get more episodes recorded.
Let’s see…this past week I removed an old ceiling fan and lamp, and replaced it with a new modern one. I shared some pictures over on the MeWe page. It is the end of an era; we have always had a Tiffany-style poker lamp over our kitchen table.
With Christmas in just a few days, it’s been a weekend full of baking. Saturday I spent the day baking sugar cookies for Squatch’s cousins, and I managed to get all of our presents wrapped. Sunday I baked my Buche de Noel cake. I have not made one in almost 20 years. I forgot how much I love to make it, and how good it smells. It did crack when I unrolled it, but I was able to fill it and get it rolled back up. It’s in the freezer now, and I will make the frosting for it Wednesday and get it all decorated for Friday’s Christmas dinner with Squatch’s family. Speaking of which – they are catering it. I’m so confused; I’ve never been to a holiday dinner that was catered before.
Sunday night we’re baking brownie balls; they are soo good, and rich, and chocolatey…and the ganache on top is to die for! Monday we’re making snowman cookies. Tuesday will be toffee squares and decorating the snowmen. That will be the extent of this year’s cookies. Keeping it simple, and just our favourites.
What is your family doing for Christmas? We will watch A Christmas Story on Thursday night; it’s a tradition, even though Squatch does not like the film. I’m going to get him the “Major Award” lamp one of these years. 🙂

Got some thoughts for The Loo?
