This week was about growth. Little Man hit 2.5 years old, and the milestone of me nursing him for that long. It’s not what I expected, my initial goal was to nurse for 1 year. And here we are at 2.5, and still going strong! He is so strong and healthy, not even a sniffle for the little guy!
I also got a ton of seeds this week. Last month, I found out about a deal on heritage seeds from The Seed Guy. I got 63 heirloom garden seeds, and 15 heirloom medicinal herb seeds. So. Many. Seeds.
I picked up a small pellet greenhouse from Walmart earlier this fall. It was supposed to be for my mother to start some herbs, but she never used it, so I “appropriated” it. It is now housing Dill, Lemon Balm, and Chamomile seeds. I had also done Echinacea and Lavender, but was told by a great friend who is an AMAZING gardener, that they germinate best when cold. So, those seed pods are currently in the fridge, and I will be taking them out at the end of this week. I’m hoping they germinate. I have to say, I was shocked at the tiny size of some of the seeds. I was not expecting them to be so tiny for the chamomile or lavender.
There were 10 peat pods in the greenhouse, so I did two of each type of seed. That, long with the 3 or so seeds I placed in each pod, should ensure that I get some growth. Keep an eye out for updates! I’ve never grown anything before, so this is an adventure. I’m hoping it works out, and this will be the first of many gardening stories!
This weekend we have spent A LOT of time potty training. Little Man LOVES his Mickey Mouse training pants, which is a big help. He has not yet gone in the toilet, but as soon as he has peed, or pooped, in his undies, he has come running, because he clearly does not like it. We did have the messy bed situation yesterday during naptime. I had him sleeping on a towel, just in case. I ran to the bathroom and came back, and he had rolled off the towel and peed. Le sigh. Off came the comforter, quilt, and both sheets, and down to the basement to be washed. It’s part of the process, so I’m not too upset. Poor kid was freaking out though, from the cold wetness. He woke up crying “Cold! Wet!” and not understanding what had happened. We spent both afternoons in Pull-Ups. Tomorrow morning, though, we will be at it again. Plus, I’ve got some Marvel training pants arriving tomorrow for the little dude!
Thanksgiving is this next week. Squatch is driving down, and will be with us Wednesday through Monday. Little Man and I are going to do some crafts before he gets here: handprint turkeys, Indian headdress, Pilgrim hats, and who knows what else. Keep an eye out next week for pictures!
Have a great Thanksgiving, everyone. I’m thankful for all of you who come back each week to read my ramblings!
