Bread…

Bread…

I don’t know what it is, but I have had such a taste for homemade bread lately. I blame it on Amy Dingman over at A Farmish Kind of Life, with all of her bread making YouTube videos lately! If you don’t know who Amy is, I highly recommend you check out her site, podcast, and YouTube channel. She is my spirit animal, and has become a friend over on MeWe.

I decided I had to make some bread Monday, and with no yeast in the house, decided on some good, old-fashioned beer bread! I love this recipe, because it is so gosh-darn easy. I have to admit, I have not baked this in about 10 years. I forgot how the recipe went, and when I saw that I pour the melted butter over the bread once it is in the pan, I started questioning myself. But, I went with it, and Oh My God, you guys! It was so absolutely delicious. The kitchen smelled amazing as it was baking, and when I pulled it out of the oven, it took everything in me to NOT just slice it up right away and eat the whole darn thing on my own.

My mother had invited my cousin and her daughter over for dinner, so my cousin made sirloin, potatoes and chicken, and trucked it all over to our house. I pulled out the kitchen table to accommodate for us all, and we had plenty of room so we were not on top of each other. My goddaughter walked in and just asked “What is it that smells so good in here?” I cut a slice, slathered on some butter, and handed it to her, still warm. She adored it. I served the bread with dinner and there was none left.

Yesterday, my mother asked what happened to the rest of the bread, when told her it was all eaten at Monday’s dinner, she exclaimed “I never got any!” I told her not to worry, that I would bake another loaf, and so I did, today. I ran into town to pick up some short sleeved shirts for Little Man and myself; we were not planning on being down here while it got warmer out! I happened to check out the baking aisle, looking for yeast. There was no yeast, but there was one last bag of flour, so I picked it up. I figure 25 pounds of flour is a good thing to have, as long as I’ve got plenty of beer! So, my latest loaf of beer bread is out of the oven and ready to be sliced. Enjoy!
