Yesterday was rough, oh so rough. By the time we got ready to make dinner, the weather cleared up, so Little Man and I got the chance to go out for a short walk before the rain started up again. The immediate difference in both of our demeanors was noted, and we were both all smiles the entire time. Little Man had to bring his rock with him, which was kept putting into his pocket then taking out, over and over and over again; it is just the cutest thing.

We cuddled up together and watched a few episodes of Sesame Street before bedtime last night, and then we finished watching “Guardians of the Galaxy.” It is important that we each get our own time to watch something we like, just to keep up morale. Little Man is fast becoming a fan of Sesame Street, but I still don’t want him to sit in front of the television all day, so I limit him to two episodes of any show per day; I know, yesterday he watched Muppet Babies while I was in the shower, I needed my me time.
When we woke up this morning, there was sun streaming through the blinds. It was not rainy or cloudy! We took advantage of this, and after we had a yummy breakfast of leftover pancakes and some applesauce, and Mummy got her big mug of tea, we got all dressed and headed out on a walk. Little Man learned about his right pocket this morning; his mind was blown that he has TWO different pockets in his coat to use. Yes, the rock came with us on the walk; it spent a lot of time in his pockets and out, adventuring as we went along.

Little Man did most of the walking today; he did want “Up” on my back, and I’m so glad I chose to wear my Ergo today, just in case he didn’t want to walk the entire time. He is so heavy though, but today it was much easier than the previous time I walked wearing him; I know the next time it will be easier as well! We walked across my brother’s lot to the next street, and up to the other trail access, and then Little Man wanted down. He ran across the field, exploring, and then stopped to pick up as many rocks as he could find when we were on the actual trail. He would bring me a few rocks and I would place them in the pocket of my hoodie, tossing them off to the side when he wasn’t looking. I knew he would not remember all the rocks he had given me. We saw our doggy friends from afar; they were coming up from the little/dog beach with their owners and branched off before we got there.

We spent an hour and a half just wandering the neighbourhood, trails, and the backyard. We even snuck in some time to draw some chalk messages on the driveway again, because the rain washed off our messages from last week. Back at the house, Little Man walked the perimeter of the yard, wanting to go adventure in the ravine/gully that leads to the water. He kept looking back at me, trying to inch closer, and I kept saying “No.” If I had some good muck or hiking boots, I would have thrown him on my back and walked him down, but I’m not going down there in gym shoes after having showers all weekend.
If you’re not already doing it, get outside! You will not believe the difference it makes to spend just 5 minutes out there. Trust me, before you know it, an hour will have passed and you will not even be close to ready to going back inside!
