I’m sure you’ve seen the posts on FaceBook. You know what I’m talking about, the posts showing all of the toilet paper, all the food, the new firearms and knives and ammo, etc. You know these people, you may be one of them. You’re posting about your new “homeschooling” plans for the kids; this is not homeschooling people.
I’m here to tell you to STOP IT! Just stop. I know, I know, you’re making these posts to let people know that you are prepared, that you have what you need, or think you need. But that’s not what it really is. You are broadcasting to people who may be desperate that you have what they want, need, or think they need.
These “lesson plans” you’ve made up, that is not how you homeschool. Homeschooling parents know this, and are laughing. Don’t set your kids to the same schedule they had at school. Yes, if they are able to do distance learning online, go ahead and set up some time throughout the day for them to log on and do their work, but don’t set the strict schedule. There are too many distractions at home for them to be able to follow it, and you will only make everyone crazy if you do. Let them have fun, turn everything you do into a learning experience. Trust me, you will be grateful for it.
If you want to stay safe, and sane, you will stop sharing all these “preps” you have done for the foreseeable future. Stay safe, whatever do you mean by that? Well, I mean that you are keeping your home safe from any issues. After speaking with several police officers, I have been told that crimes are now up, even though more people are home. Domestics, burglaries, and robberies have gone up in number. Yes, you feel safe with everything you now have, but advertising it just lets others know what you have, or don’t have. Be smart, be safe, and stop with those ridiculous posts. And let your kids enjoy this time, you enjoy this time with your kids; stop with the crazy strict schedules, and spend all day learning the fun way.
