Well, Illinois starts “shelter in place” at 5pm today. I wanted my parents to cancel their plans to have people over for St. Patrick’s Day corned beef & cabbage, but they will not. I tried to get them to pack up and head to their lake house, but they argued with me, saying “All the stores are here!”
I tell ya…they say we need to watch out for the seniors, because they are the most vulnerable, but these seniors are something else! They have insisted on going out to the stores each and every day this past week, despite my protests. They are worse than kids!
Anyway, after naptime yesterday, we all sat down and watched Frozen II. It was an ok film; I liked the music better than the original. I went to MeWe and checked in to see what was going on, and it was quite quiet, so different from FaceBook. Yes, I’m still on FaceBook, and it is a great source of finding amazing memes, like this one of The Child from The Mandalorian. MeWe, I’ve noticed, is full of people who are out their getting shit done. Yes, we are on the platform a lot throughout the day, but we are not sharing memes (well, some of us are) as a primary source of entertainment and news, we are having amazing conversations and educating each other. FaceBook is so full of fear-mongering, I’m getting sick and tired of it.

This morning, Little Man decided he wanted to help Papa do some cleaning, so he pulled out a broom and “swept” up the floors and then worked to get over his fear of the vacuum. I don’t know where this fear is from; I did plenty of vacuuming when he was itty bitty, but last summer he would freak out anytime I would run it, same with the hair dryer (I mostly air dry my hair, so he’s really not used to the noise). Yes, I’ve been working with him to get used to it, holding him when I run it, so he can see that it’s not scary. It’s a work in progress.

Checked in with Squatch up Nort this morning. He is going to be setting up a hydroponic garden in the garage, so we were discussing seed and setup options. I filled him in on the AeroGarden my parents have. They started it the week before we got here, and after three weeks, the Dill, Parsley, and Basil are growing like weeds, but for some reason the Thyme and Mint never took off. I don’t know anything about the system they are using, so I have no clue what is going on or why they didn’t sprout. Oh well, we will have plenty of dill going forward.

I have seen that there are still toilet paper shortages out here. You would think it would start to level out, but people are going nuts and hoarding the stuff. From checking in with friends elsewhere, this is not the case, so I’m attributing it to the fact that this is the Chicago-land area with a high population, and the fact that we are now required to “shelter in place” starting this evening. I’ve pulled out some old sheets from the linen closet, and I’m getting ready to slice and hem them to place in the bathrooms, along with squirt bottles! We will have some nice and clean bottoms here, I tell ya. Little Man’s potty training will take place next week; if I don’t have to change diapers, that will make things a lot easier.

Got some thoughts for The Loo?
