It’s been a busy week so far.
Last week, the FIL and I came up with plans to build a toddler bed for Little Man. We have been co-sleeping, and since getting up here, he’s been with me, and Squatch has been in the next room, due to the smaller beds (we were in a King). With the holidays coming up, and expecting guests, I wanted to get Little Man sleeping on his own, because three of us in a bed is quite tight. I found a bed I loved on Amazon, but it was almost $200! I could not bring myself to spend that much on a bed, so I asked the FIL if he thought we could make it, and he said we absolutely could! Squatch went out and helped in the pole barn, and we brought the finished product in yesterday afternoon. Little Man was so excited; he climbed in, and walked around clapping. Getting him to sleep in it was whole different story. I got him to sleep, and put him in the bed; he immediately got up on all fours, screaming. I grab him, get him back out, and put him down – sitting up and screaming. So, I crawled in next to him (the bed successfully held us both!), got him settled back down and sleeping, and crawled out. He was instantly awake (what is it with kids? He’s passed out completely and then the minute I roll away, he’s wide awake? Really?), so I grabbed him, got him back down, and just brought him into bed with me. I know it’s not going to happen overnight where he will sleep solo, but I don’t think I was expecting him to wake so easily!

He was so excited for the bed!
I’ve mentioned it before how my in-laws are dessert fans, having a little something after dinner each night. I grew up only having dessert on weekends, so this is something new to me. I was on Pinterest Sunday, and came across this Apple Pie Bread Pudding recipe. My FIL had leftover waffles he wanted to use in a bread pudding, so I suggested this one. He was game, and made it. Let me tell you – it is delicious! The waffles give a great flavour, being sweet already, and it is not the typical bread you would be used to. I definitely recommend this recipe to anyone who wants a new take on bread pudding!
I started working on Little Man’s Hallowe’en costume last night. I know, I know, I’ve got that baby blanket still in the works, and I’m going to pick it up once I’m done here. I’m making Little Man into a ghost for Hallowe’en. I found two different costumes on Pinterest I really like, and am combining them to make this one. I priced out fabric at WalMart a few weeks ago, and they had a sale on their twin size white fitted sheets. So, for $1, I’m making this costume! I spent about an hour last night, ripping the seams on the edges, and pulling out all of the elastic; we will find something to do with it in the future. This morning, I did a rough cut to make the shape of the gown and the hood. I’m thinking Thursday I’ll pull out the sewing machine and stitch it all together. It is a bit big, but will work for when we go to the trunk or treats, and I’ve got him in a big coat.

Just a few quick seams, and his costume is done.

Got some thoughts for The Loo?
