What a weekend. Saturday, Little Man spent the morning in his big boy undies (some awesome training pants I picked up earlier this summer). I am proud to say he spent almost 2 hours in them before he peed. As soon as it happened, he ran to Granma and me in the kitchen to get out of the wet things. I took him and changed him into a diaper, as it was lunch and then naptime. He was so proud of himself for wearing the training pants. I would check him every half hour to see how he was doing, and we tried sitting on the potty each time, but he didn’t do anything. We did not continue with the training pants for the rest of the weekend, but after that, Little Man would come to me and walk me to the bathroom door and then the bedroom, to change his diaper. He is getting the hint about what is going on, he just needs a little bit more comprehension that he is about to go
Granma and I had been in the kitchen; I was teaching her how to make toffee squares, one of my favourite recipes! The toffee squares are so simple to make, and are a great alternative to your classic chocolate chip cookie. I followed the recipe to a “T,” and used a cookie sheet to make the bars. This results in a skinny bar, which is quite crispy. I have to say, I prefer mine thicker. Lately, we’ve been using a glass casserole dish; I’m not sure of the exact dimensions, and my MIL doesn’t have one here for me to get them. The casserole dish is smaller than your standard cookie sheet, so the dough is thicker. It stays much chewier, even a few days later, when you make them thicker. My FIL really enjoyed the bars, and suggested adding some sea salt next time. So, for Thanksgiving, we are going to make 2 batches of the bars again, and will have half of the nut batch with sea salt and one-third of the plain bath with sea salt.
For Sunday, we made the pepperoni rolls again. This time, one of them we made with a thin layer of sauce and then some Italian Sausage. We heated up some of the leftover sauce as well, for dipping. Let me tell you, it was absolutely to die for with the sauce and sausage! With or without dipping it, it was amazing. The sauce even made the original pepperoni version taste better once it was dipped.

Lastly, my Well Armed Woman “We Won’t Be Silenced” shirt arrived! I love it, and cannot wait to go out and wear it. I am a proud supporter of the right to bear arms, and this current fight just to get our voices heard is so much more than just the organizations being able to use social media. By silencing our message, so many people out there only get one side of the story and do not know how they can empower themselves to take care of their safety.

Got some thoughts for The Loo?
