Today’s plan was to go to the pumpkin patch before lunch and nap time, but that ended up not being the case. Squatch had a phone interview at 11, and he poo-pooh-ed my suggestion to take the call at the farm while Little Man and I went in before him. He wanted to take his call at the house and then go. Folks, it is a good half hour drive to the farm where the pumpkin patch is located. If Squatch’s phone call was half an hour, it would be 11:30, add in him eating lunch, and we would not be leaving until noon.
Little Man is down to one nap a day, and he goes down between 11:30 and 12:30 for about three hours. I could not very well feed the kid, throw him in the car, and take him to the pumpkin patch, getting there right at nap time. That would make for one very cranky Little Man, and one extremely annoyed Mummy. So, the pumpkin patch will wait for next week. Tomorrow, Daddy and Granpa are going to help Uncle George get some work done at his house in the morning, followed by a library visit to get our library cards! Friday Granma, Little Man, and Mummy are driving to town to get our shopping done. Now, I’m a bit frustrated, because after the pumpkin patch we were going to see if we could pick up some steel toe boots for Squatch at either Farm & Fleet or Surplus Outlet, so that will have to wait until next week as well.
In the meantime, I did a little baking today. Poor Squatch has been hearing about my pepperoni rolls for years, and after 3 years of marriage, I finally made them this summer. I got SO MUCH grief from him over the darn things. Well, I forgot how easy they are to make, and how delicious they are, that now I want to make them all the time. Monday, Granma, Little Man, and I did some grocery shopping and I decided to pick up the ingredients needed. They were assembled today into the most delicious pepperoni, bready, cheesy goodness. It took less than 5 minutes to get the Pepperoni Roll together and in the oven. Everyone enjoyed it, including Little Man! I’ve got enough pepperoni and provolone left over to make a second, so when we are in town Friday, I’m going to pick up some pizza sauce, Italian Sausage, pepperoni, and provolone so I can make two on Sunday. One will be the traditional roll, and the other will have some sauce and sausage added. I’ve never made this with sauce, so I don’t know how it will turn out (my theory: it will be just as good, if not even better), so I will have to let you all know next week!
