Unfinished Business

Friday I was talking about unfinished business, and how I realized that I was restless due to the fact that I had several outstanding projects, as so some others in my home. Step one for any problem is identifying that you have a problem, and my realization was huge. It was like a huge weight was taken off my shoulders, and I set forth with a new angle.

I did get working on that blanket while Little Man napped this weekend. Granted, I ended up spending 2.5 hours unraveling the cream colour yarn he got into, and re-rolling it so I can keep on using it, but it was time well-spent. I would rather take the time at the beginning to get that handled than need to do it when I switched back to that colour in the future. I also decided to change up my design a bit, and I am not going to be using the white I originally planned on for the centre and border of the blankie. The whole thing will be alternating stripes of cream and yellow, bordered in the yellow. I think that will be more pleasing to the eye, and I am pleased with how it is looking right now. I am about halfway done with it, so keep an eye out later this week for a pattern review and picture of this blankie!

Like I said, realizing why I was feeling restless has resulted in a weight being lifted off my shoulders. I almost have a new outlook on life, and it makes things much better. I have my planner out this week, and it is so comforting to know what I have going on, and the central, physical location makes all the difference for me (even though I have a Google calendar (colour-coded, of course!) to be able to flip the page to the month ahead or to stick with the weekly outlook.

I cannot say the same for the rest of the family; although Squatch and the FIL were heading out this morning to check out the fireplace to see what is going on as the MIL, Little Man, and I ran into town for groceries. It turns out the ducts are full of cobwebs and box elder bugs – the mesh that was on the openings is more of a chicken wire, so Squatch and the FIL are going to clean everything out and replace the mesh with a window screen. Hopefully this will solve the issue, and we can have a fire soon. This far north, it is getting quite cool in the evenings, so a fire before bedtime would be amazing! As for other projects that are being put on the long finger, everyone has their own way to go about finishing them, and while it can be super frustrating to watch as things do not get done, it does not help to pester and prod others to get moving. So, I just sit back, and as much as it pains me, I just focus on Little Man and me, and what I can do to check off all the boxes on my to-do list.
